Alexander McQueen

A new exhibition at the V&A celebrating one of the most interesting, and very very Goth, fashion designers in my lifetime, the late great Alexander McQueen.

(And this weekend overlaps with the end of the exhibition on the history of the wedding dress...)

Every time I go to the V&A, I see something I want to wear. Next time I'm there it'll be a roomful...

Mondays

Monday, Monday, urgh, Monday. Still, after the Sunday I just had, bring it on.

Happy International Women's Day to the side of the fence I'd like to join!

Still too cold

There's a faint possibility that spring might actually happen sometime soon here. That would be nice. I get tired of sleeping in male pyjamas, male underwear and male socks. I want to be able to slip into a slinky little nightdress...

Judging a book by its cover

I have no idea what this book is about but liking the cover. Wielding swords appeals to my boy side but doing it in a ballgown and perfect hair and makeup very appeals to my girl side.

Read a book!

It's World Book Day. (World Book Night is in six weeks' time.)

I don't own any actual books of TG fiction... although I do have a horror story collection that falls open at a two-page sequence of a modern woman in a possibly haunted house being dressed in Victorian clothing, wondering why this seems strange to her...

Poldark

The story of a handsome man in uniform brooding in the late 18th century (and probably some kind of plot, I guess) returns to TV this Sunday in a new version with Aidan Turner from Being Human and The Hobbit brooding on the cover of every TV listings magazine and Eleanor Tomlinson from Jack The Giant Slayer swooning in a corset beside him (lucky girl) so there's plenty to look at even though The Musketeers has finished romping for the moment, although really Poldark sounds like a soap with nice costumes.

Catwoman

Apparently Catwoman has been declared bisexual in DC Comics. Not a particularly big deal in terms of characteisation - it means she can hit on Batman and Batwoman - but still nice to see a really major character doing so. (Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn have been friends with ambiguously bisexual hints for decades now.)

It comes a couple months after a physically male character tried to take over the role of Batgirl, and was totally convincing until being unmasked then totally unconvincing. Must be nice to have that kind of disguise skill.

The Danish Girl

The true story of Lili Elbe, one of the first TS recipients in the 1930s, is to be told as The Danish Girl, starring Eddie Redmayne of Jupiter Ascending and I guess that Stephen Hawking movie. A trans actor could have taken the role, although I guess an Oscar winner brings the story more attention.

Looks like Blogger changed their mind. Which is nice.
