A thought tonight

We have people living in space tonight, and have had constantly for years. We have reusable spacecraft (again). We have a probe on Mars, we landed another on a comet. All that in less than 60 years since we sent someone into space properly. We're amazing. really, when we try.

Perfume and clothing adverts... a tempting parallel world

Xmas TV advertising is full of faux-festive cheer, toys, food... and fashion and perfume ads trying to lure me into evening dresses, stiletto heels, full makeup and perfume.

Pantomime

Panto is many a British child's introduction to the theatre... and to seeing men in dresses.

I've never wanted to be a panto dame... I want to be the "principal boy", and end the day by taking off that costume and going back to girls' clothes...

Panto has pretty much lost that half of its stage crossdressing tradition, keeping the drag-ish dames in most cases but making the male leads, well, male. The lack of female 'princes' in tights and heels is a real shame...

Of course I want to be the principal girl most of all.

There's a dress shop near my work with a lot of 50s-style pretty retro dresses in the window. And on a local shop promotion day earlier this week they had this red polka-dot one with a red satin bow belt out in the doorway. I had to stop myself touching it...
