Mmm, I see what you mean - I felt some of the same watching a few episodes of The Hour (while almost totally missing out on Mad Men)
You should see Bergman's Fanny and Alexander - not just a riveting Dickensian tale about the fears and discoveries of childhood and an old-style family clan coming face to face with unfamiliar and outside worlds(and with such amazing acting!) but also a recreation of pre-WW1 furnishings and costumes that almost outdoes Downton Abbey. The long version has often shown on tv here around Christmas as a mini series - it would have been great to watch it together... *dreamy gaze*
