He's Our Heroine season one guide

He's Our Heroine

An ancient magical sword, forged by a warrior queen for her daughter, a power no man could wield.

A cult of sorcerers seeking to destroy it and steal its strength.

Some college kids wondering who broke into the history department's storeroom.

And one young man whose destiny is about to go in a very unexpected direction.

Can he cope with cramming for mid-terms, fighting the forces of evil... and being a co-ed?

Main cast, the Super Team

Andy / Mandy Clark
(aka Andrew, Amanda, Chosen, Protector, Little Owl, Princess, Xena)
History and literature student turned (a) Chosen of the Goddess and (b) girl. The transformation has left him strong, fast and nimble, doubly so when wielding the Sword. It's also left him petite, more blonde, and attracted to boys.

Lisa Becker
(aka Lise, Lady Lisa of Hartford)
Sidekick? Love Interest?
Political science major, now spear-wielding warrior, but still very interested in fashion and scented soaps and constantly amused by Andy’s attempts to avoid them.

Joe (Joseph) Woods
(aka Magister, Sir Josephus Prince)
Sidekick? Love Interest?
Chemical engineering student, now studying magic. His studies have been aided by the Hexdrinker, a magic-draining scarf that draws away his power so he has to build it up. He also has very conflicted feelings about Mandy.

Akiva
(aka Prince Of Darkness, Ix'thaokrrurckax, Mysterious Stranger, “Bargainer with dragons! Striker of deals! Nidhoggr spawn!”, El Brooderino)
Sidekick? Love Interest?
Prince Of Darkness, apparently. Doesn't answer to "Ix'thaokrrurckax". Capable of summoning Darkfire and frost, and entering a protective wood-like rigid sleeping state when injured. His soul is a down payment for a contract of some kind.

Olivia
(aka Liv)
Engineer, computer technician, Hextech, builder of robots and portals. Gets to be a tomboy to Andy's inevitable annoyance.

Professor Strega Mallos
(aka Belladonna, Heathen Hussy of Babylon, Foul Stenchsome Witch)
Mentor. Maybe not immortal but certainly older than she looks, by at least six centuries. Holder of occult power, given to visions and dire warnings. Has a broomstick but doesn't make a big thing of it. Her cat doesn't like showing up to make the point either.

Neriene Mars
(aka Professor Mars)
Ancient Roman warrior woman, seeking vengeance for some great wrong she doesn’t talk about. She sometimes magically disguises herself as a man in a way that Andy is not at all jealous of.

The Goddess
Possibly Artemis, Athena, Minerva and/or Diana. Prone to appearing in dream portents. She sometimes glows.

The Sword of the Goddess
(aka the Sword of the Chosen, the Defiant, who Shall Not Be Moved)
The sword does not have a name (though the Athena Edge and Minerva's Claw have both been suggested) but it does have a personality. It's loyal, a little bit clingy, quick to fight, quick to forgive when rejected. Was at one point put in the Stone as used by Merlin, allegedly, so as to be transferred properly. The Goddess also provides a scabbard that can change its shape and the sword's as well, so it can pretend to be a necklace, bracelet, hair pin, pen, earring or badge. It also sometimes glows, sometimes though not always radiating heat as well, as a warning and a weapon.

The Time Mice

Cookies
(aka Princess Hestia Hearth-Mouse)

Hero
(aka Athena Poliuchos Warrior-Princess-Mouse)

(aka Hephaestus Builder-Mouse)

Writer

Bear, Locust, Wolf, Scorpion, Hyena, Lion
Walton (Hyena)

Curse Manifest
A magical virus, seeking a powerful host, spread by the mouth, both through music and kissing. Can be defeated by music performed with real passion. Possibly also talent, but we never saw anybody doing that.

The Statue Knight
Manifestation of the attempt by Eta Beta Pi fraternity to become an all-conquering knightly order.

Goblins
Able to pass as human, at least some of the time, not great fighters but very good at stealing magical items.

Werewolves
Not so bad once you get to know them.

Hellhounds
Capable of whimpering.

Shelly Things
Also capable of whimpering but then treachery.

Worm Beast
Slimy and spiny, two great tastes that taste great together.

Dragon
Breathes fire and corrosive black mist. Which, rude!

Haunted House
An illusion drawing itself from the fears of those trapped inside.

...

Other Supernatural Beings

Father Zed
(aka frothing nutjob)
College chapel adviser, mystical healer, sees the truth of things, possibly over a thousand years old and has the scars to prove it, and may have been barred from Valhalla at some point.

Ingrid Elsa Halversson
Exchange student, hockey captain and Valkyrie, with powers to fight, heal, and cloud memories. Apparently a Totem rather than a directly appointed Valkyrie.

...

Other Students

Judy, Moody and Rudy
They do everything together, and work smoothly in a way that Andy, Lisa and Joe mostly don't.

Bulkhead and Skellington
Assistants at Professor Mallos's department. Not in on, like, anything.

Percy and Shinji
Boys that Lisa was stringing along.

Ki
Stylin' Korean-American student.

Basically the perfect woman.

Wise semi-retired hair stylist.

Locations

Crestwood University

Located in... a large town somewhere in America, Crestwood University is known for its excellent history and archeology programs. (Which is how all this started.)

Its most famous landmark is the 19th century clock tower, recently reopened after repairs. It rises from the library, supposedly because the architect was deaf and didn’t think that through.

The residential campus includes spacious graduate and teaching assistant residences, as well as regular dormitories such as Morris Hall.

The University is home to a number of sports teams, fraternities and sororities, and other societies. It features amenities including a central food court and other cafes, the Crest, a nightclub that plays host to local and up-and-coming bands, a University Health Service clinic, a multifaith chapel and contemplation center, and the Alumnus Society building, with its restaurant and ballroom used for a variety of social events through the year, and boating on the riverside.

Crestwood City Center
Site of a variety of stores, many of which sell feminine clothing that Mandy tries and usually fails to avoid wearing, as well as a riverside entertainment district, and the landmark 19th Century city hall.

Crestwood Museum
Thanks to a partnership with the University, the Museum holds a wide array of artifacts suitable for stealing by monsters and occultists.

Crestwood Docks
Crestwood has docks. There's probably a river around here too.

Hell
Hell is easily accessible by those who know what they’re doing, and often more easily by those who don’t. Possibly a combination of underworlds from various mythologies. Two star average review.

Olivia's Lagoon
A pocket dimension island retreat. May be in the Caribbean. Or another century.
