Carrie Fisher in quotes

One of the great things to pretend is that you're not only alright, you're in great shape. Now to have that come true - I've actually gone on stage depressed and that's worked its magic on me, 'cause if I can convince you that I'm alright, then maybe I can convince me.

I think of my body as a side effect of my mind.

I was street smart, but unfortunately the street was Rodeo Drive.

Instant gratification takes too long.

Timeless

A new time travel TV show with a female lead grumbling as she puts on various historical costumes? Well, that appeal is certainly Timeless to me. ;)

Scream Queens is even sillier than last year. But darn if I don't like some of the outfits.

Xmas shopping done apart from parents. Time for a little treat...

And for my next trick, a TG comedy space opera. (Hi WB!)

Monday, December 05, 2016

I'd probably feel that way too...

The Tumblr dashboard appears to be borked. So I had to go sideways to find this picture from Simone...

"I'm wearing retro 50s girls clothes and I love it!"
Photo by Harrison Hurwitz... doesn't say who she is.

Frost on the pavement, making it sparkly and dangerous. Like me.

Resist the sweater, wear the party dress

Winter's here, to an extent. No snow yet, just a few days of frost, but it's warm thick tights time anyway. Boo.

Still, party dresses in the windows of every department store, so that's something...

World AIDS Day

We've had a little good news on AIDS treatment recently, but there is still a long way to go. Don't let it be forgotten.

Happy Thanksgiving, if applicable!

I rather doubt I qualify as conventional

If I vanish from the internet, it may be the Conservatives' fault as they want to ban videos of 'unconventional' sex online, and put other things behind age restrictions that a lot of sites can't enforce.

Transgender Day Of Remembrance

Remember. Stay safe, stay sane. Take care of yourselves and others. We go on.

Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones, Emilia Clarke...

The new Star Wars movies sure like their pretty English brunettes who can kick ass.

... I want to appear in a new Star Wars movie.

There's a really pretty dress in the window of a local charity store. I wish it would fit me.

Ghost In The Shell

Okay, talking about things again.

Ghost In The Shell has always feature fluid identities, changeable bodies and attractions, and it looks from the trailer that at least some of that will appear in the live-action version. Which is nice.

Your Name

Laboured with a really unhelpful English title, Your Name is a huge hit anime film about a boy and girl switching bodies with comic/romantic/other consequences.

I've seen the sensory overlap romance before in Joss Whedon and Brin Hill's In Your Eyes but this also goes full body-swap.

So, the US election polls are rather closer than I'd like...

Look in the mirror and see...?

It's still Halloween night...

An old idea of looking in a mirror after lighting a candle (or saying a spell, or peeling an apple) to see what you would look like crossgendered your future spouse...

But yeah, this old greetings card showing a woman seeing a man in the mirror suggests a different idea to me at least. ;) None showing the other way round, for some reason...

Happy, er, November

NaNoWriMo maybe?

Ah well. It was nice to be able to buy my annual black lipstick without being looked at suspiciously. :D

The Good Wife's Guide

Housekeeping Monthly, 1955, with all the rules a good Stepford Wife has to follow. Because surely no-one would accept it without a proper Stepford mind...

This week's theme: Stepfordization

Being turned against my will into a powerful man's perfect housewife. Looking, dressing and acting the way he wants.

Stepford can be horror, or comedy, or both - The Stepford Wives has been adapted as both, and Jordan Peele's new film Get Out looks to do something similar to a different target.

And if you play with the politics and the subtext... it could also be a forced TF fantasy...

She looks so surprised...

... almost like she wasn't expecting to look or dress like this.

Perhaps he wasn't.

Persimmon silk satin

Evening dress
Medium: Persimmon silk satin and ecru lace
Date: c. 1895
Country: England
The waist of this evening gown measures an atypically slender 18 inches. Although stories of severely tight-laced corsets are almost certainly exaggerated, women often did lace more tightly for formal occasions. The full, puffed sleeves of dresses in the 1890s also made waists appear even smaller.

Sam

And just to not be all kinky outfits all month:

The long-awaited release of indie TGTF comedy Sam, reviewed by Courtney. Sounds like it's fun but not quite up to the wait.

Shiny!

And now, Ulorin Vex.

Those shoes are terrifying. I want them.

Shopping does not work that way

The Amazon Fashion adverts with models delivering packages... I'm pretty sure that's not how that works.

If it is, then where do I apply for the job?

Thought on seeing a pretty vintage style dress

Miss Peregrine

Tim Burton's film of Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children features Eva Green as the titular protector of kids with odd powers, like Edward Gorey's X-Men. Her pointy-shouldered Goth riding ensemble is... interesting as well.

Will you be mine...?

The main local DVD store is moving, so I bought a few things in the sale. I was very good and only bought one film because of the dresses.

It was Crimson Peak.

Anything response

After the Anything thing, producer Mark Ruffalo responded, "We are all learning." Yes, we are. I'm glad he tried, anyway, as a fan of his environmental activism. And the Hulk of course.

Another week, another non-TG TG starring role

Sense8 star Jamie Clayton is not happy about Matt Bomer taking a transfemale role. (The role of a sex worker, like Jared Leto in Dallas Buyers' Club. I'd be happier still if that wasn't the main thing we did on screen.)

Yes, I'm weird...

Jenna Coleman playing Queen Victoria is one thing, but I admit it's not quite as appealing as Clara being a modern girl having to wear Victorian attire when she travels to that era...
