Chris Lewis took a deep breath, ran a hand through his fair hair, checked his tie, and knocked on the door to Mr. Barton's corner office warily.

He had been with Barton Danning Creative for just over four months, his first really relevant job after graduating, and with the talk of a big contract and whether it would happen, he was very aware that he was last in - and so first out.

He'd done his best to fit in with the corporate culture, which wasn't all different from a frat house. About a dozen men on one floor and no women would often trend that way. The last woman to work here was Mr. Barton's PA Jessica, and she quit last week, not helped by comment too many from New Projects lead and regular drinks-after-work ringleader Brad Moore or one of his sidekicks like Kyle Wallace or Cook Allen.

Chris went along with the nights out because he didn't want to seem like a square, and the general frat boy behavior to an extent. he wasn't the champion of the rec room pool table, but hey, give it time. There were only, ah, nine guys ahead of him.

Hopefully it hadn't lost them the contract. Probably not, apparently the company involved was pretty old-money... and probably kind of an "old boys' club" too, just in an older bracket.

Mr. Barton called for him to come in. No PA to do that for him right now, after all.
