No 29th of February this year, so no ladies asking gentlemen to marry them or whatever the leap-year thing was. And an odd number, so no Olympics and no super-weird and often highly camp opening or closing ceremonies.

Okay, not really an issue for this blog here... but kind of an issue for lots of TG caption blogs. How many will vanish or move?

When you wish to be a star

The cameras click and flash as the chauffeur opens the limosine door and holds it for me. I place a brand new stiletto heel on the red carpet, smooth down the skirt of my satin gown, and step out.

I remember being woken early, finding myself in a hotel... a stylist waiting to help with my dress, makeup and hair. But I was only up for a technical award, not as an actress... and... I was male?

This all feels strange and unfamiliar... but not wrong. I purse my full red lips, smile and show off perfect white teeth, pose for the rows of cameras and answer to my name, Beatrice...

So what would you most like to be see on the red carpet wearing? They didn't like Anna Kendrick's or Anna Faris's but I'd go for them... of course I want to go princessy.

I had to go out today after all, and the weather was horrible, so I've rewarded myself with some naughty online time and dressed up for it.

Just a little skirted time today, so making the most of it.

I'm at home tonight, properly dressed and looking forward to a weekend when I can wear my real clothes every single day.

Mardi Gras

Right now in the US (mainly New Orleans) they're celebrating Mardi Gras, the wild dress-up parade version of what we mark here by making pancakes. Their version might be a bit cooler...

Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Ascending is the new film from Lana and Andy Wachowski and is... a big weird mess. But from a transgender perspective there's some interesting stuff going on, as is usually the case with the Wachowskis.

Completely ordinary girl discovers she's really Queen of the galaxy and whisked off to a life of unimaginable luxury and beautiful dresses. A life which is also highly dangerous, but I guess it has to have a down side. Who hasn't wished they were really someone important? But her power here is symbolic and all about looking the part. The first choice she makes in the story after a lot of running and escaping is what to wear to a formal event. She's a lot more Cinderella than Neo, Dale Arden than Flash Gordon. That's a fantasy life that certainly speaks to this writer...

It's also about rejecting a world where you're defined by your genes. The appeal of that should be kind of obvious.
