It's the weekend between Christmas and New Year's when nothing much happens! Yay!

Passing swoon

The Limehouse Golem gave me such costume envy. Not helped by Douglas Hodge (jokily) crossdressing in it. So unfair.

Merry Christmas

Well, not all of my wishes came true. Oh well. ;)

Or that would be me on the right.

He's Our Heroine Christmas Special

Andy wasn't a big fan of Christmas by default. Sure, he liked the presents and the food and the lazing around for a couple weeks during the winter, but this year he couldn't really go home as his parents might notice he now looked like a girl. Attempts to hide that with a glamour hadn't quite worked. So it was going to be a Friendsmas.

And he had more questions about the religious stuff since meeting an actual goddess and taking a day trip to Hell.

And what was he supposed to get for, among others, an immortal witch who claimed to predate Christmas starting?

Happy Holidays!

May your wishes come true!

Love is love

Hallmark getting mocked for chickening out against "One Million Moms" and pulling a commercial with a lesbian couple has led to, among other things, the possibility of a lesbian Christmas romcom suggestion from Wynonna Earp writer Emily Andras actually being written.
Well, at least I have my Christmas shopping done.

An early influence

... on my love of cute little cartoony animals in clothes. I've had this box in my room for more than thirty years...

Country Cousins Decorated Stationery. I can't find anything about this online. Is there more?

Okay, four more days and then I GUESS you can have Christmas music.

Another Sherri Hill prom dress model

... will we ever learn her name?

Edit May 7th: yes we will! Gracie Ryen Lancaster.

A surprising offer

Just got a first-time message with an offer for an RP where I get turned into a woman in Victorian times. I think that way is a first for me!

Obviously I don't want to jinx it...

LBDs and sequins and velvet, oh my!

Party season is approaching, and with one little pink pill and the right dress I could be the perfect plus one.

Sure, I'd like to watch The Mandalorian. And also the Christmas fantasy comedy with Anna Kendrick as Santa's daughter. And Cinderella.

The new Addams Family film has at least led to some cosplay. Though it was theme song provider Christina Aguilera that Morticia-ed for the premiere.

Heroine Halloween

"What was Andy's outfit?" you may ask. (And WB did!)

The hilariously goofy bee outfit from The Secret Circle Halloween episode?

The "I'm not wearing those" and cut to she is wearing the cowgirl boots, dress, denim and soon oversized hat combo from The Longest Ride?

Or, y'know, something not from an actual photo of Britt Robertson? So many more awful and/or adorable possibilities.

He's Our Heroine Halloween Special

Though there might be a Halloween episode in season two which makes this non-canon. ;)

(Fun fact: the first Buffy novel after an adaptation of the pilot was about Halloween (and was later contradicted by the show's first Halloween episode) as was the second issue of the comic (which came out in time for Halloween a year after that episode, and that run has its own timeline issues but never mind).)

...

He's Our Heroine Halloween Special: Come As You Aren't

Halloween at Crestwood University, and despite Andy's attempts to claim he has too many assignments Lisa and Joe are taking him to a party at Donovan House.

"And since you haven't decided on a costume I've done that for you too." Lisa smiled playfully.
"... Of course you have..." Andy sighed deeply. "How trashy is it?"
"Oh, way less trashy than mine." Lisa grinned.
"That isn't very reassuring."

But the trashiness of his costume isn't Andy's only problem tonight! An unwelcome guest at the party means that old Halloween superstitions are coming true. Can Andy, Lisa and Joe save everybody in the house before the clock strikes midnight?

Cloak And Dagger

Aw, Cloak And Dagger is ending after two seasons (and presumably their forthcoming Runaways crossover).

Awful "sexy" Halloween costumes 2019

io9 picks the worst Halloween knockoff costumes of the year, inevitably featuring that "Nicest Neighbor" as well as other fetish-y takes on kids' properties.

Sure, I'd wear half of them if I could.

But don't scroll past the Harmonia section to the end. Argh.

It's a recurring motif. Let's say that.

I'll try to post a Halloween story that isn't just "guy goes into old house, tries on old dress, becomes lady in history" later. ;)

The Waiting House, 5

Makeup, perfume, hair styling... I was every inch a 1950s housewife, dressed up for a night out with my husband.

I admired myself in my full-length dressing mirror, delighted to see that I was beautiful.

I could hear him downstairs, waiting for me. I stepped to the stairs and began to descend, sure that he would like what he saw!

The house had been waiting for me, and I for the opportunity it offered me. It was restored to its former glory, now with a resident who could truly appreciate it. Outside it was 1952, my husband and I had just moved in after his promotion at work, ready to make a life for ourselves here. The house had a room waiting to be a nursery for our children, in time. But for now it was just the two of us, ready to make our house a home.

The Waiting House, 4

I fastened myself into rustling petticoats, and held the gown up to myself in the mirror. Smiling back at me was the woman I was always meant to be. I knew that dressing this way would be the beginning of a life in skirts and dresses, the life I had always wanted.

I took great care pulling the lovely navy silk over my reshaped body, feeling it settle as if it were made for me... or me for it.

I would never have to pretend to be masculine again. I felt my skirt swish and billow as I twirled.

There was still more to do, to complete my outfit. I stepped into dainty high heels, fastened pearls around my neck and slipped the matching earrings into my now apparently pierced lobes. And the ring on my finger...

As I put on the ring, I knew that the house had turned me into its perfect owner. It was a dream come true!

I was a 1950s housewife!

The Waiting House, 3

Carefully rolling and pulling the seamed stocking past my freshly painted toenails, up my legs, feeling them become smooth and shapely as I fastened the hose to the garters, I paused to admire myself. The effect had made me beautiful...

I could stop now, put on my male clothes and step out of the house, beginning a life as my female self in the present.

Or I could dress fully in the clothing that awaited me, dress for the 1950s from head to toe.

I quickly selected an evening dress...

The Waiting House, 2

It had been so long since I had properly dressed, I knew I couldn't resist. I stripped off my male clothes, discarding them without a second thought, even as I was sure none of these beautiful things would fit... I wanted them all to...

And it seemed that I had everything I would need, if anything did fit. Everything from girdles to hose, petticoats to dresses, shoes, even makeup and perfume.

I found a seemingly never-worn underwear set... and was surprised when it fit.

Or, no... it was changing me to fit it!

I thrilled at the sensation, and quickly fastened myself into it all. The girdle gave me the hourglass figure I had always dreamed of. The bullet bra pushed up my bosom. The knickers filled out my derriere. I was becoming a woman!

The Waiting House: a fantasy

I had never owned my own home before. But here I was, key in hand. I knew it wasn't ideal, out at the edge of the suburbs, built for one of those baby boom families in the early 1950s and seemingly never a real home to anyone. But now it would be mine...

The decor was retro and seemingly untouched, just faded and dusty here and there. I had planned to modernize, but now seeing it I had a sudden temptation to restore it to its former glory.

And there was more furniture than I had been expecting. Up in the master bedroom, a double bed, and a wardrobe...

And in the wardrobe, clothes...

Women's clothes...

The Addams Family

The new Addams Family CG toon looks... not great. Bringing the original Charles Addams designs to animation is a good call, but the animation style doesn't seem to be doing it any favours. And the voice cast with Charlize Theron as Morticia, Oscar Isaac as Gomez and Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday makes me wish they'd gone for live-action.

Pan Am

Mad Men didn't result in many copycat shows, being a slow-burn character study that reveled in the awfulness of the era it was set in, but the "fancy 50s and 60s outfits" element did result in a few series, notably the soapy-as-anything Pan Am, starring Christina Ricci and a not-famous-yet Margot Robbie and David Harbour. The opening two-parter included the heroic Pan Am crew helping an evacuation, one of the stewardesses becoming a spy...

Thanks to WB for the reminder!

Backdating so I have something every day will do that, I guess!

Shall we play a game...?

Looks like my offer to do an actual group system RP on Elliquiy has paused due to the initial requester taking time off. Dunno if it was going to work anyway.

And no, it wasn't going to be about gender TF.

Well, maybe one episode.

Star Trek

It's Star Trek Day, the 53rd anniversary of the US premiere.

And yes, I bring up Turnabout Intruder a lot. But to be different...

The diverse, inclusive future is one I love. A chance to be better.

The Deep Space Nine anniversary documentary What We Left Behind notes some of diversity representation it did well, and showrunner Ira Steven Behr admits that queer representation wasn't really one.

Risa was less overtly queer-friendly than it might have been, as this article notes.

And then there was, as Pride.com puts it, an accidental transgender episode.
