I go to powder my nose...
And as I do I see my friend Suzie, my lab partner in Chemistry, beside me by the sinks. And she looks at me and tilts her head.
"I'm sorry, you're Ed's date, right?"
"Yes - "
"Are you related to Len Bright?"
"I, yes - "
She nods, and then smiles knowingly. "Closely related."
I blush and gulp.
"Oh, sorry. Just seeing you and Ed together, he's always been your white knight. But I didn't know you did... is this just for tonight, or...?"
"Um... I'm not sure yet. First time, anyway."
"Keeping it secret?"
"For now, anyway."
"I understand." She smiles warmly. "And I think you look beautiful."
"Thank you." I smile back bashfully. "So do you!"
She smiles. Then she thinks for a moment. "There is one person I'd like to tell if that's alright?"
"Who?"
"You know Kathy, right? Well, her little brother's been trying on her clothes."
"Oh, ah, I don't do that."
"But she might be glad to see how pretty a boy turned girl can be?"
"Ummm... okay." I bite my lip softly.
She leads me over to Kathy and her date, nodding for her to join us.
"Kathy, this is Len's sister Linda."
"Oh, hi! I didn't know Len had a sister." Kathy smiles amiably.
"He doesn't..." I admit, blushing.
"Huh?" Then Suzie whispers to her, and she looks at me again. "Oh, gosh! Are you..."
"Just for now. Ah, we'll see how I feel after."
"Well, you look so natural. So, was it hard to change?"
"No, it felt strange but I was fine after a few minutes. No balance issues or anything."
"Right, good. Because... maybe my little brother would like to try it. I mean, I shouldn't be tattling, but if you're keeping this secret you can keep that too, right? He thinks I don't know he's trying on some of my things. Maybe a day like this would let him know what he really wants. Or she, I guess?"
"Okay, well... I can ask Edward about the serum..."
